SEBAC released the following statement following the death of CTDOT employee Andrew DiDomenico, 26, who was killed today while working on the Wharton Brook Connector in Wallingford:

SEBAC Responds to the Governor’s $10 Million Proposal on Federal Funds for Pandemic Pay - May 3, 2021

Governor Ned Lamont released a proposal for how the $2.6 billion in federal pandemic relief funds sent to Connecticut from the American Rescue Plan (ARP) will be spent. His administration included $10 million to compensate state employees forced to work on site or in the field during the pandemic. While the governor acknowledged that the matter is one for collective bargaining, he seeks to unilaterally set the total amount of money spent. The administration further indicated that state officials have “identified” 14,000 workers to whom the money would be sent.

SEBAC mourns the loss of Hartford Police Officer Robert " Bobby" Garten

SEBAC is profoundly saddened by the sudden and senseless loss of Hartford Police Officer Robert “Bobby” Garten, 34, an eight-year veteran with the department. Officer Garten was killed in a motor vehicle accident while responding to a call for service. Also seriously injured in the accident was Hartford PD Officer Brian Kearney who has fortunately been listed in stable condition at a nearby hospital.
