On April 27th, SEBAC's 2022 Organizing and Racial Justice Committees co-hosted a membership leader event to prepare for the end of the Legislative Session. Stewards, Leaders and Activists from all fifteen SEBAC unions joined together to learn about the ways every union member can become active in the fight to secure strong contracts and a moral budget that addresses the unprecedented needs of our State.

Below are 5 steps you can take to ensure that our legislative goals are realized and our message spreads throughout your workplace:

On March 15th SEBAC released a report authored by In The Public Interest's Shahrzad Habibi, Research and Policy Director and Yale University's Jennifer Klien, Professor of History, titled, "Austerity Versus Reinvestment". In the past CSEA has warned Council 400 about Social Security and stimulus check scams, but now we regret to have to warn you about COVID-19 vaccine scams.

There are only a limited number of federally approved vaccines and treatments. As of 1/16/21 there are only two available and approved by the US FDA – Pfizer-BioNTech’s  and Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine. Do not fall for any scammers offering “miracle cure” treatments or medication to prevent or cure the virus. Furthermore, be sure to review the below advice from the CT Department of Consumer Protections:

We know that you have questions about Governor Lamont’s recent announcement that residents over the age of 65 would be included in 1b rollout.  While SEBAC does not have a role in our member’s vaccine scheduling, we wanted to compile all of the information to help get you the facts.

The Lamont administration has hired an outside consultant (Boston Consulting Group) to determine how the state can best generate revenues and cut costs. In the process, the administration is not simply bypassing SEBAC coalition but also missing the opportunity for genuine front line worker input on protecting and expanding public services.
